Disability Support Worker – Level 1 (Pay Point 1)
Position Summary
A Level 1 Disability Support Worker provides basic support to people with disabilities under close supervision. This role focuses on assisting with routine tasks and learning core skills while working as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Assist clients with basic daily living activities, such as: Personal hygiene (with supervision)
Dressing and grooming
Meal preparation and feeding support
Provide companionship and social support, Engage clients in simple activities
Support participation in community outings
Perform household tasks, including:
Cleaning
Laundry
Basic home organisation
Follow care plans and instructions from supervisors or senior staff
Maintain client dignity, privacy, and respect at all times
Observe and report any changes in client condition or behaviour
Level of Responsibility
Works under direct supervision
Limited decision-making authority
Tasks are routine and clearly defined
Requires guidance for most duties
Skills & Experience
No formal qualifications required (though a Certificate III in Individual Support is often preferred or in progress)
Basic communication skills
Willingness to learn and follow instructions

Typical Pay
Under the SCHADS Award:
Pay Point 1 (Level 1): Entry-level rate
Usually applies during initial training or probation period
Pay increases with experience and progression to Level 2+
